What did Prevention Magazine name as one of the Best New Foods for you?
June 2007: Articles, News
Originally from Central America, avocados were once described as the ‘fruit of kings’. Today, this rich, smooth tasting fruit is considered a power food – an excellent source of potassium, vitamins C, A and E, and folic acid. Avocado Oil is uniquely high in monounsaturated fats promoting a reduced risk of heart disease, cancer and diabetes. It has superior rejuvenating properties to make your skin feel soft and moisturized and is renowned for its healing, anti-wrinkle and anti-bacterial properties.
Avocado oil can be used for high temperature cooking such as grilling and sautéing. It enhances the flavors of other ingredients rather than overpowering them. You will immediately love the delicious nutty flavor of Pacifica Culinaria Avocado oil. It has a light and silky texture with very little residue making it perfect for salad dressings and drizzling on food. Try one of these award winning infusions today!
My favorite is the Roasted Garlic which I use to add flavor to my vegetables and sauteing onions. Tonight I roasted some walnuts with the Blood Orange and they are delicious!! There are several flavors and I can’t wait to try them all.

Skinny on Seaweed
June 2007: News
“New Research reveals that miso soup can slim your middle. In animal studies, chemists in Japan recently discovered that a compound in brown seaweed encouraged a 5 to 10 percent weight loss by shrinking abdominal fat. How? They found that fucoxanthin, the seaweed’s brown pigment, stimulated a protein in belly fat that boosts metabolism (the rate at which the body burns calories) and lowered LDL (bad) cholesterol in the animals. Human studies come next, which could lead to an antobesity pill containing fucoxanthin within 5 years.” This Tidbit taken from Women’s Health - January, February 2007 Issue.
Why wait five years? Delightful Health already carries a brown seaweed extract called Modifilan.
