About Us

Delightful Health wants to help end the confusion surrounding food.  Are eggs healthy for you? Are all fats bad? Is butter really good for you? Do you believe sugar free soda is a better alternative?

For years, we didn’t know if we should eat butter or margarine, eggs or bagels.  We lived on auto pilot – where donuts, double chocolate chip muffins, bagels and the occasional granola bar and banana started our day and got us through the daily grind.  We ate out at lunch and didn't care what oils were used in our food.  We were really too tired to cook anything by the time we arrived home, so we might have thrown something in the microwave or had something delivered to us.  Had there been any interest in reading labels, we wouldn’t have been able to pronounce half of the ingredients!

It wasn’t until we dealt with cancer, thyroid issues, re-occurring bladder and ear infections, rashes and the continuous use of antibiotics that sparked our interest in asking, “Why aren’t we feeling any better?”  We reached a point where feeling tired was normal.  Conventional medicine was helping us feel better in that moment, but it wasn’t addressing the cause as to why we weren’t feeling our best.

It’s easy now to look back and see that prescription drugs were not the answer --  what we were eating and our lifestyle should have been our starting point.

We are not purists, vegetarians or raw foodists, but we may be considered foodies. We eat less meat and more fruits and veggies.  The type of food we put in our bodies is just as important as where the food comes from and how it is processed.

Julie Graber is the nurturing force behind Delightful Health. Her quest to improve her own nutritional lifestyle after her pregnancy ultimately led her on a path of healing.  She believes that true healing is a progressive process that starts from within, through proper nutrition, a positive mind and the desire to maintain a higher level of well-being.

One struggle that has led Julie on her path of nutritional healing is the recurrent ear infections of her infant son. After numerous courses of antibiotics Julie learned that the next ear infection would lead to putting tubes in his ears. This amplified her search to find a remedy that was natural in origin. Nicholas is now 12 years old and has not had to take antibiotics for such an infections since then.

Julie understands that there is a difference between healing and so called "cures". Healing is a natural process while curing usually consists of an external treatment and medication to mask or eliminate symptoms. This external treatment doesn't necessarily address the factors that contribute to the symptoms in the first place. By launching Delightful Health, Julie wants people to take a deeper look at their lifestyle and institute this beneficial process of healing from within.

Julie is currently pursuing her Masters in Holistic Nutrition. She is available for group lectures, corporate health fairs, and informative, nutritional classes. Please feel free to contact Julie, 319.325.3869 or julie@delightfulhealth.com.

Sadiqua Hamdan is a contributing writer to Delightful Health. Her desire to write was well documented at a young age, as she choose to read, write and doodle rather than interacting and playing with neighborhood kids.  As an adult, her written talents were not fully nurtured at the corporate jobs she pursued.

The combination of health and writing manifested itself after overcoming Hodgkins Lymphoma, a type of cancer, at the age of 19.  She was two stages away from life or death.  It still took her several years to value the importance of nutrition and started taking steps to cleanse the toxins from chemotherapy and radiation.

She prides herself in not having taken any type of medication or over-the-counter drugs in the last five years.

Sadiqua is currently pursuing her Masters in Leadership and Organizational Change.
